My 3 year old loves this guitar

Review Date: December 18, 2008
Reviewer: Tylu, Georgia
We got this guitar for my son for Christmas last year, he was 2 then - to my amazement it is still in one piece and still very much loved by my 3 year old and my 6 year old and all of their friends. A few of their friends are asking for one for Christmas this year! We have had one broken string, my husband tightened it too far, it was easily replaced with a guitar string from the store. It is never really in tune, but that doesn't bother the kids.
When I unpacked this guitar last christmas I thought we would get a couple of months out of it - it does not look durable. However,a year later and it is still making music!
Guitar - Good, cheap fun!!

Review Date: December 26, 2008
Reviewer: C. Jones,
We bought this guitar for my 3-year-old son for Christmas. He was ecstatic when he tore off the wrapping paper and saw the picture of the guitar on the box! The thinnest string did break while my husband was tightening it. However, there was a spare string in the bag with the guitar pick, so we were back to "rocking out" in no time!

I think the guitar is pretty well-made for how inexpensive it is; the wood is nice and the directions (which we did not bother to read at first) even warn you to tighten the strings very slowly, and that you'll have to tighten the strings multiple times over the first few weeks of use. The guitar is not in tune, but that doesn't bother us or my son, as all he really wants to do with the guitar is "jam" and "rock out." lol

You should see the ways 3-year-olds play with this guitar at pre-school. Great fun performing, showing off for mom & dad, and learning. An excellent investment.
fun junk

This guitar is cheap and poor quality. Two strings broke while I tried to tune it, the bridge constantly comes unglued. But my two-year old loves it because it makes noise and he feels like a rock star. Which is why we bought it. Don't expect to be able to teach a child anything on this guitar...but I'd buy it again for a two-year-old to wail on.

Product Description

Fifty years ago, Gibson debuted a new series of guitars referred to in the 1958 catalog as the Modernistic series. Designed by Ted McCarty, they were far enough ahead of their time that the originals languished until a later generation of players enthusiastically adopted them. Fewer than 50 original Explorer guitars were shipped during 1958, making them among the most collectible guitars ever. This special 50th Anniversary 1958 Korina Explorer Electric Guitar, featuring a one-piece korina body and neck is limited to a run of 100 guitars.A solid korina body and stopbar bridge are the primary elements of tone and sustain for this awesome axe, which you can wield handily thanks to the Gibson Explorer Guitar's player-friendly setup. A 19th fret neck joint means you can shred all the way to the highest notes on a rosewood fretboard. A tune-o-matic bridge and mini Grover tuners keep your strings spot on in tune even when you're bending the night away. All this sound is superbly telegraphed to your amp by two ceramic magnet humbuckers.

Product Details

  • Body: one-piece korina
  • Neck: mahogany, rounded, joint at fret 19
  • Tuners: vintage deluxe with keystone buttons
  • Neck pickup: 496R ceramic magnet humbucker

Decent for the price!

This guitar looks so good. A guitar in pink color! wow!! I received it with all the advertised accessories in a very timely manner. It is a good guitar to start learning and see if you are really interested long term. Better than buying and guitar worth several 100 dollars and then not using it very much. This one is perfect to practice once in a while. It comes with a gig bag so you can safely stow it. Once I graduate from this guitar, I will buy one more expensive. For now I am happy with this one :-)
love it!

Product Description

Elixir Strings revolutionized guitar strings by finding a way to extend the life of wound strings without compromising the tone. Polyweb coated strings have a balanced tone and smooth response - they sound like strings that have been "played in". Nanoweb coated strings sound and feel like uncoated strings - they are bright and lively, and the coating is so micro thin that you can barely tell it's there.

  • Ultra thin coating

No need for a thousand dollar guitar

Review Date: September 21, 2005
Reviewer: O. BLGN, Istanbul, TURKEY
I have a 25 year old Yamaha FG-200D(Domestic model, made in Japan) acoustic guitar. When I bought it, it was around 200 - 250 USD. I always liked the way it sounded. It was always loud, bass rich, but a little dull in high tones. Recently I purchased a set of Elixir Nanoweb Light strings. Afterwards, it sounded so great that I won't change it for a thousand dollar worth Martin. I realized that the difference was not in high strings, it was the coated low ones which now sounds crystal clear and still rich. I strongly recommend to any acoustic player.
Oh yes

two things that will make this simple for everyone. First off I will never go back to anything else for acoustic and second the polyweb are great but I HIGHLY recommend the nano. The tone is beautiful, soft and they last forever. If you want a higher sound with more treble go for the polyweb.
love Elixir nanoweb

Reviewer: Owl, Minnesota USA
I have been using Elixir Nanoweb strings for almost two years, and won't buy anything else. What they say about long string life is absolutely true. With other strings, I needed to change them after any gig or jam session that went more than a couple hours. If I didn't, the strings sounded really, really dead. I used to change strings at least weekly, and sometimes more often.

When I play Elixir strings, they sound great when I put them on, and they still sound pretty good when I change them 3-4 months later.
brings an old guitar to life

Review Date: December 2, 2007
Reviewer: JH,
Amazing product! I replaced my strings (which were at least 2 years old, Martin strings) with these and I was blown away. It made a world of difference. Even though my guitar is entry level, having these strings make it sound amazing! Now maybe, it was because my strings were so old that the difference felt so dramatic, but I still think the Elixirs tend to ring louder and better than a lot of other strings. The nano coating can feel weird and a little slippery at first, but you'll get used to it.

If you have an entry level guitar, these will make your guitar sound so much better.

If you have a high end guitar, then you know you need the best.
Great sounding, durable strings

I put these strings on my Saga Gitane guitar three months ago and they still sound great. I haven't noticed any physical wear, and they hold a tuning for days and days. They have a very nice, crisp sound and the high strings are especially sharp and clear. The coating feels great on the fingers and probably makes slides a little easier. They are a little pricey, but they probably last twice as long as cheaper strings. Highly recommended.

Great for Beginners; Good Quality/Excellent Price

Review Date: December 19, 2007
Reviewer: Cyndi V.R., Lakewood, CA USA
This guitar is very good, is very solidly made. The extras are the perfect starter kit; come in handy, last for a great while since the guitar is well made I have no need to replace strings. I have had it for 5 months now and it has been a good instrument to me; the guitar keeps up with my rough novice handling; bumps against walls and doorways, and it remains steardy. The color its beautiful, I name it (indeed I did) Luna de Octubre - Octuber Moon.
Perfect guitar

Reviewer: Kevin Jonas,
I was so pleased with this guitar. It was my first acoustic guitar, but I am glad that I purchased this guitar- it's been slammed into walls, and the wood still looks good. It was easy for me to play, and I plan on buying future guitars from Austin Bazaar. Only one bad thing- I received a red pick.
Extremely Happy

I ordered the guitar for my son for Christmas and he loves it. It has great sound and is great for beginers and advanced players. It came with everything you need to get started accept for guitar tabs and music sheets, which you can find online. This was his favorite Christmas gift. The price was great too.

Thank You So Much,

I also received a gig bag...since I do not know how to play a guitar yet I will have to wait until I start practicing on the instrument with my tutorials I ordered whenever they get here that is...LOL! Hope I made first beginner guitar choice though. Anyway like I always say,the ladies are gonna be lining up to talk to PeNName with his brand new Crescent 38" Blue Cutaway Acoustic Guitar with Gig Bag and accesories!
Decent for beginner but get better one for long term investment

Review Date: June 2, 2008
Reviewer: mochi_girl, Santa Clara, CA
I recently decided to learn guitar and thought about teaching myself at home. Bought this guitar through Amazon.com after looking at some decent reviews on it and saw that the price is unbeatable. I like the fact that it is small and lightweight, and that it comes with a set of accessories, but I found it hard to tune. I would play a song that would sound 'right' going up the scale but sound 'off' going down the scale. I decided to take a class a month ago, and last week, my instructor tried to tune my guitar, and he said the guitar has an 'intonation' issue, which means that the guitar just wouldn't tune on chords even if the individual strings are in tune. I suspect there are problems with the frets markings. Overall, since I am pretty tolerant and big on cheap bargains, I would say this item is an okay bargain, and if you are unsure about pursuing guitar but need an instrument to try out, then you may want to get this. I was able to play melody ('Amazing Grace','Star Spangled Banner', etc) just fine. It will probably start giving me issues once I start playing chords. But if you are serious about playing guitar, get a better one, this one is a no go.
